I’ve Been Banned from StumbleUpon!
Social Bookmarking April 10th, 2008
So last night before heading out to the Minnesota Wild playoff game versus the always tough Colorado Avalanche I found out that my Stumble Upon account had been frozen and “under review”. Surely enough, I logged in to my account this morning and found a nice little email in my inbox.
The email read as follows:
Regrettably, your account privileges have been suspended due to a breach of our TOS. I respectfully draw your attention to our Terms, particularly with respect to the clauses which forbid the use of personal accounts for the promotion of a business, product or service, and also with regard to the sending of ’spam’ messages to other members.
Our terms can be found here: http://www.stumbleupon.com/terms.html
Under the circumstances, the restriction is unlikely to be lifted.

Here is my public reply to StumbleUpon:
Dear SU,
You fucking suck. You’re going to ban me over one QUALITY business link from nearly four months ago when competitors pull the same exact shit on a daily basis? Never mind the hundreds of interesting links that I have discovered for you, or the thousands of thumbs up (and down) that I have given – and certainly never mind my community participation with seventy friends and a PR4 profile page. Sounds like a GREAT idea.
Say… isn’t your website or *cough* marketing service *cough* the place with that obnoxious toolbar that cripples internet browsers? Isn’t your website also the place that feeds us spam for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
I think it’s fair to say that at least half of your stumble volume consists of proxy sites, myspace layout sites, worthless blogs, and scrapers. Come to think of it, that sounds like a neighborhood that I don’t want to be a part of anyway.

P.S. Stumble my nuts, bitch.

That sucks. Let’s hire some Russian hackers to take their servers down.
Was this reported by someone? Competitor?

Hey Matt! They wouldn’t say who reported it. So it was probably a competitor. :/

I was going to make a comment about the Minnesota Wild vs. the Canadian hockey teams in that division, but then I remembered that (a) the Wild is leading the division and (b) the team is mostly Canadian players anyways.
That’s not cool about StumbleUpon. Especially since submitting your own content won’t get it very far unless people give it the thumbs up. Seems kind of pointless to me.

That sucks!
I love stumble. I can’t believe they would do something like that over one stupid link! Oh well…I guess life goes on.

That sucks! It’s amazing how the people who really break all the rules seemingly get all the breaks. I’m starting like StumbleUpon although I still don’t use it much.
This post was hilarious by the way, especially the “stumble my nuts, bitch.”
Stumbled this post!

I am confused..
Why did you get banned again? One link?
What was that one link?

Colin - We scored some tickets to game 5 this series as well, it should be a great time. Hopefully Gaborik does something this time around.
Scott B. - It does suck! But life does go on, I rarely used SU at this point anyways.
Deron - Thanks for the stumble
This post reminded me of the “do you blog angry?” thread from TBE forums.
Scott - One link, probably… they wouldn’t exactly say. I’m guessing that it’s the link to my consulting business.

Yupper SU banned me 2 weeks ago. I never recieved email or anything. Took me 2 months to get the toolbar to work properly and a month to get banned and I’m not a spammer. I assume the ban was due to much to fast. But who knows they wont answer my email so F@*&^ M. Its not targeted traffic anyway.
Cool Blog BTW
